What we actually publish

Six regular columns, updated on a fixed weekly schedule. No filler posts, no reheated press releases — every piece is written after we finish the game.

We only review after credits roll (or 40+ hours for live-service titles). Each review runs 1,800–2,500 words with a spoiler-free verdict up top, a performance breakdown per platform, and an accessibility rundown. Sponsored placement is never for sale — from CA$0, always free to read.

Frame-data breakdowns, attack-pattern tables and annotated screenshots for the fights that wall players. Souls-likes, JRPGs and roguelikes get priority. Premium members get downloadable PDF strat sheets for CA$5 each.

We revisit a landmark title (think Chrono Trigger, Thief, Deus Ex) with developer-interview context, cut-content analysis and a modern replay verdict. Roughly 4,000 words, always free.

Our editors play 30+ demos a week from itch.io and Steam Next Fest so you do not have to. Featured devs get a written Q&A and a spot in our monthly readers newsletter. Submissions reviewed for CA$0.

Steam Deck, ROG Ally, and mod-community handhelds put through real battery, thermal and emulation testing in our Spadina Avenue loft. Benchmarks are reproducible and the methodology is published with every piece.

Every Sunday the crew argues about the week in games, reads listener mail, and hands out one genuinely cursed "Buff of the Week". Recorded live in-studio; ad-free for newsletter subscribers.

Behind the bylines

The crew in the loft

Five writers and one very opinionated community editor, all working out of the same concrete-floored room off Spadina.

Frame-data obsessive. Wrote our 12,000-word Elden Ring boss compendium in one caffeinated week.

Portrait of Priya S.

Plays more unreleased games than anyone in Ontario. Champion of the weird, the small and the unfinished.

The Elden Ring boss guides literally got me through Malenia. I stopped buying strategy books entirely.

Only review site I trust because they tell you when the port runs badly. Saved me $80 on a broken launch.
Lena M. · Vancouver, BC · January 2025
Their indie spotlight is how I found my favourite game of the year. Nobody else was covering it.
